Ballet

Classical ballet begins with a nursery style class for children age 2+ with singing, mime and simple dance steps.  As the child grows the syllabus progresses to the Major grades and pointe work for those students who are technically capable. We follow the syllabus set out by The British Ballet Organisation www.bbo.dance

Tap

Tap is an excellent way to develop rhythm, coordination and musicality. Children love to make noise and explore the different sounds!

Modern Jazz

Modern Jazz dance begins with a structured warm up to develop strength, technique and to stretch the body for the modern dance syllabus. This is followed by dance in theatre dance styles.

Dance Fitness

Dance Fitness is a class that incorporates some or many forms of dance. It is a full body aerobic workout, as well as stretching and strengthening exercises. Good fitness is key to reducing the risk of injury, enhancing performance, and ensuring longer dancing careers

Cheerleading

In its simplest terms, Cheerleading is the performance of athletic skills, jumps, dance and/or chanting to gain a response from spectators at an event (whether this is in support of a sports team, or simply to score points in a cheerleading competition) The routines usually range anywhere from one to three minutes.

Street Dance

Streetdance” was a term coined originally to describe dances that developed outside of the studio setting and in a social space like streets, clubs and parks. Street dance is also used to describe all the hip hop and funk dance styles such as breakdance, popping, locking, hip hop and house dance, are still alive and evolving within the hip hop culture of today, and are seen regularly in music videos.  Classes are creative and blend original hip hop styles fused with modern commercial moves to the latest beats!

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.
Students are encouraged to suggest their favourite music and are given the freedom to create and express individuality as well as learning different techniques for choreography.

Examinations

Examinations are encouraged for all students. These help document the progress being made , however, examinations are not suited to every child and are not therefore compulsory.

Performances

We put on a bi-annual show for the benefit of the students (next show scheduled for June 2017). Rehearsals are conducted in the same friendly, creative, encouraging environment as all our lessons.  In addition we encourage students to perform at every opportunity, such as local galas, competitions, parades, flashmobs and even on trips to theme parks and Disneyland Paris!
