COSTUMES

Most of the costumes you need will be provided to you by Drama Unlimited on show week. In addition, all child performers will be required to provide black jazz shoes to be worn on stage. Seniors may be required to wear black character shoes. There may be some other small costume items you will need to provide, for example: tights. You will be informed in good time once rehearsals start.

TIME COMMITMENT

Rehearsals will start in November and will be held on Saturday afternoons at Dance Factory Studios. Dancers will be given a schedule when they join and are expected to attend ALL rehearsals that they are called for. You will be asked at the start if there are any dates you cannot attend, and you will be asked to sign a rehearsal contract stating you are available for all other dates. If more than two rehearsals are missed then you may be removed from the show and membership is non-refundable.

AUDITIONS FOR SPEAKING PARTS

  • There will be some small speaking parts available to all children, the audition date for these parts will be announced shortly.

  • Older Students are eligible to be included in additional sections of the show. This will require them to attend some additional rehearsals in Bradford Town centre on a Monday or Thursday evening.

Please contact Miss Kathryn direct if you would like further details. Any student who is given a speaking part may also be required to attend some additional rehearsals in Bradford Town centre on a Monday or Thursday evening. You will be informed of the schedule if you are successful, and I encourage you all to have a go at auditioning!

SHOW WEEK

During show week children will be required at the theatre by 5.30pm (tbc) each evening for dress rehearsals and performances (usually 1.30pm for the Saturday matinee). You will be informed in advance which performances your child will be appearing in. Performances are usually completed by 9.30pm.

TICKETS

Tickets will be available from www.ticketsource.co.uk. Anyone wishing to view the show must purchase a ticket. Please try to sell as many tickets as possible ☺.

PHOTO PERMISSION

Permission When you signed up to classes at Dance Factory Studios or last updated your information with us, you were asked to agree to our Use of Images policy. This allows us to use all group photographs of the show for publicity. If you would prefer me not to use individual pictures please make me aware.

CHAPERONES & HELPERS

~PLEASE NOTE CHANGES TO THIS PROCESS, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY~

I’m sure you will agree that the children’s safety during shows is paramount so I will need volunteer chaperones in the changing rooms and backstage to help and supervise the children, as well as helpers to man the front of house and help with other roles each performance.

One adult per family is required.

To register as a chaperone, please contact the Child Entertainment and Employment Department of Bradford Council TODAY on 01274 437607 or cee@bradford.gov.uk.

This can be a long process so please start asap. If you already have a DBS check you will still need to register as a chaperone with Bradford Council. If you registered with the DBS Update service you can give them your details at the same time. If you did not register with the update service they will require a new check.

With one person per family I should be able to share out the slots and keep your chaperoning duties to a minimum. Please understand that I do everything I can to make shows affordable for everyone but the one job I cannot do by myself is chaperone the children.

IF YOU CANNOT CHAPERONE…

When you sign up for the show you will be required to state if you are able to chaperone. If you are NOT able to do so you will be offered a range of voluntary roles OR required to pay a FEE OF £50.00 to cover the cost of hiring additional chaperones should they be required.  This fee will need to be paid before your child can continue to rehearse and perform.

I am sorry to have to do this but at a previous show there were 7 families who were unable to chaperone and had either not told me or announced this at the last minute after I had included them in the rotas. I do all I can to make it fair for everyone involved and chaperoning is part of that commitment. Please speak to me personally if there are any issues.

Many Thanks

Miss Kathryn
