~This £25.00 needs to be paid no later than SATURDAY 11th NOVEMBER 2022.
~Anyone registering after this date will be required to pay £25.00 plus a £10.00 late fee.
~Most of the costumes you need will be provided to you by Drama Unlimited on show week.
~In addition, all child performers will be required to provide black jazz shoes to be worn on stage.
~There may be some other small costume items you will need to provide, for example: tights. You will be informed in good time once rehearsals start.
Rehearsals will start in September and will be held on Saturday afternoons at Dance Factory Studios, Denholme Business Centre, Halifax Road, BD13 4EN.
Children will be given a schedule when they join and are expected to attend ALL rehearsals that they are called for. You will be asked at the start if there are any dates you cannot attend, and you will be asked to sign a rehearsal contract stating you are available for all other dates. If more than two rehearsals are missed then you may be removed from the show and membership is non-refundable.
Auditions for speaking parts
There will be some small speaking parts available to children. Auditions for these will take place on the same day as one of the rehearsals, date tbc. Please contact Miss Kathryn direct if you would like details. Any student who is given a speaking part may be required to attend some additional rehearsals in Bradford Town centre on a Monday or Thursday evening. You will be informed of the schedule if you are successful. I encourage you all to have a go at auditioning!
Older students are eligible to be included in additional sections of the show. This will require them to attend some additional rehearsals in Bradford Town centre on a Monday or Thursday evening. You will be informed of the schedule if you are interested.
Show week falls during half term and children will be required at the theatre by 5.30pm (tbc) each evening that they are performing (usually 1.30pm for the Saturday matinee). You will be informed in advance which performances your child will be appearing in. Performances are usually completed by 9.30pm.
Tickets will be available from www.ticketsource.co.uk/bradfordplayhouse or direct from the theatre. Anyone wishing to view the show must purchase a ticket. Please try to sell as many tickets as possible.
CHAPERONES & HELPERS
I’m sure you will agree that the children’s safety during shows is paramount so I will need volunteer chaperones in the changing rooms and backstage to help and supervise the children, as well as helpers to man the front of house and help with other roles each performance. One adult per family is required.
To register as a chaperone, please contact the Child Entertainment and Employment Department of Bradford Council TODAY on 01274 437607 or firstname.lastname@example.org and start the process of registration. This can be a long process so please start asap.
If you already have a DBS check you will still need to register as a chaperone with Bradford Council. If you registered with the DBS Update service you can give them your details at the same time. If you did not register with the update service they will require a new check.
With one person per family I should be able to share out the slots and keep your chaperoning duties to a minimum. Please understand that I do everything I can to make shows affordable for everyone but the one job I cannot do by myself is chaperone the children. I always rope in my Mum and Dad where possible to help out and have looked into the cost of hiring chaperones, should we fall short, and it would cost approximately £1250 per week. This is money that we can’t afford, but if the show goes ahead without enough volunteers then unfortunately I will have to pass the cost on to families who have either not registered or volunteered for other jobs.
If I have to pass this cost on it will be £40.00. This is the cost of one chaperone for one performance and I’ll have to ask you to pay it before your child can perform.
Clearly I don’t want to do this so please make sure that you have registered or volunteered for other jobs with me 30 days before opening night.
If there is a specific reason you cannot be a chaperone please talk to me immediately, in confidence. There are plenty of other jobs to be assigned, thanks in advance.
When you signed up to classes at Dance Factory Studios or last updated your information with us, you were asked to agree to our Use of Images policy. This allows us to use all group photographs of the show for publicity. If you would prefer me not to use individual pictures please make me aware.
